The Sacred Heart: A Visual Meditation

"Devotion to the Sacred Heart...calls for a fundamental attitude of conversion and reparation, of love and gratitude, apostolic commitment and dedication to Christ and His saving work."
~Directory on Popular Piety and the Liturgy #166, 172

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a devotion that I was drawn to immediately upon my return to the Church. For me and many others, the Heart of Our Lord is a place of refuge and protection, and like St John we can rest our heads against His Heart and be consoled.
I wanted to do something simple yet beautiful for this very special solemnity. I believe this visual meditation does just that.
This Heart that loves us so much is loved so little in return. Today and always may we who love Him, make reparation and attempt to console Our Lord's Sacred Heart.
I would also like to direct you to two websites/blogs that have beautiful and deep writings on and prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Heart to Heart has beautiful love poems/prayers written by an anonymous author.
Jeffrey S.J. Allan's blog, Secret Harbour has some beautiful writings by the Carthusians.
Enjoy these as well as this beautiful video.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!

Thanx for this lovely devotion and for the video. It doesn't say who was singing on the video. Is it the Monks of Weston Priory in Vermont, I wonder? I can't find any of their videos on You Tube.

God bless you Karinann.

Very good, Victor! it is the Monks of the Western Priory. I didn't find anything else on You Tube but found their website. You can download their albums. The song(Peace) in this video is from a 1971 release. Here is the web address for their site:

Glad you enjoyed the meditation.
Thanx Karinann,

I have some of their albums on CD, which I had to order from the Monastry on the Internet. I was looking on You Tube for their song "Wherever You Go" from the CD of the same name, to use on my Blog. But they don't seem to have any songs on You Tube. Thanx for taking the trouble to respond to my comment.

God bless.

No problem Victor, I'll keep my eyes and ears open and let you know if I come across it. I love a good research project :)

Oh my goodness! Thanks for the Heart to Heart link! I was just posting on my own site about uniting my heartbeats with His and then came here and found this gem! How beautiful! I already knew that you had a great devotion to the Sacred Heart so I shouldn't be surprised at what you've dug up but poetry "squeezes my heart" (in a good way) and I didn't know about the poetry site. I have found more great sites through you :)

Mary,
Thank you for your comments here. I'm glad you liked the Heart to Heart link- the picture of the Sacred Heart on that link sits in a beautiful Eucharistic frame (I will have to post about the finding of that frame sometime)
I just came from commenting on your post- love the prayer you posted and uniting your heartbeats to His.
