Mary, Mother of God

Today the Church celebrates the Motherhood of Mary under the title Mary the Mother of God. For me personally, I like the fact that this feast also begins the new calendar year. Mary is truly Mother of God, but she is also Mother of us all. By honoring her today, we can ask her special intercession for this new year.

Mary's "yes" to God is a great example to each of us as we begin 2009. Let us begin this year asking for our Blessed Mother's intercession and protection. May she obtain the grace for us of our saying yes to God's plan for us this year.

Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
