The Most Holy Name of Jesus
At the name of Jesus every knee must bend, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth; every tongue should proclaim to the glory of God the Father: Jesus Christ is Lord. (Phil.2:10-11)
Today we celebrate the memorial of the Most Holy Name of Jesus. May we offer our prayers today for those who do not know the saving, healing power of this name when spoken reverently in prayer. What follows is my own reflection on the name of Jesus as well as quotes and prayers that express this devotion better than I can.
In the midst of fear and doubt- Jesus
In the midst of trials and temptations- Jesus
In the midst of pain and suffering- Jesus
In the need for repentance- Jesus
In the need for healing- Jesus
In the midst of joy- Jesus
In the midst of praise and adoration- Jesus
In everything and always- Jesus.
"If you think the name Jesus continually, it purges your sin and kindles your heart; it clarifies your soul, it removes anger and does away with slowness. It wounds in love and fulfills charity. It chases the devil and puts out dread. It opens heaven, and makes you a contemplative. It puts all vices and phantoms from the lover."
"The Lord Jesus promised, whatever you ask in my name, I will do."
